About your Psychologist - Lisa Jacob
I am a passionate Psychologist who cares about optimising your human experience and mental health. It is important to me that you have found a safe space without judgement to share and resolve your worries.
With over 15 years of applied experience and providing positive outcomes for clients, my clinical skills are credited in the field of psychology, and child and family psychology.
I have worked with a variety of clinical presentations and client needs including individual counselling, crisis and critical incident support, correctional services risk reduction counselling, vocational assessment and rehabilitation, personal development and careers counselling, disability and adjustment to injury support, court appointed family mediation and reunification, veterans support counselling, chronic illness and palliative care counselling, grief counselling, clinical assessment and diagnostics, trauma focused therapy including EMDR, child centred counselling, couples and family counselling.
Post graduate research papers have focused on seasonality and mood disorders and I have provided professional subject matter advice on mental health to local and international wellbeing publications. I have held the position of honorary lecturer at one of Queensland’s leading Universities for the support provided to post graduate psychology students.
Gold Coast Family Services was established in 2019 and fundamentally recognises that we do not stand alone, that we are all interconnected,. I strongly believe that optimising your mental health and wellbeing is crucial to the quality of your human experience, your relationship with yourself, and the health of your relationsips with those around you.
My therapeutic approach focuses on positive and sustainable outcomes. As a holistic practitioner I routinely draw from a variety of clinical theories and empirically sound practices. I often sway toward mindfulness theory, however this approach is not for everyone. You will hear me refer to a 'toolkit' which is a set of unique psychological tools that each of my clients can carry with them for ongoing self care and mental health maintenance. My holistic style of therapy ensures that the therapeutic approach meets your individual needs, as you are important, and not like anyone else.
